Forgo

Form Us With Love’s presents its newest venture, FORGO ( forgo.se ). It’s a great step in FUWL’s continual search for opportunities to make sustainability an everyday thing.

Launching FORGO is a decisive step in the direction of achieving this goal, by reconfiguring the most basic of personal care products; handwash. One small paper sachet contains the essential ingredients needed to turn regular tap water into a full bottle of foaming hand wash— in under a minute. It’s simple.

FORGO launches during Stockholm Design Week, during an exhibition held at Bergrummet, a pared down repurposed wartime bunker which hosts the launch from February 4th – 6th. SWEDISH WOOD made this installation possible by providing locally grown Swedish Pine, harvested from forests where more trees are planted than are being cut down.

The installation showcases the process the studio has undertaken over the past two years to take this idea of making things more sustainable with less to fruition. The spark for FORGO was seeded by FUWL design team member, Allon Libermann. The idea was pitched internally and incubated at the studio together with entrepreneurs. FORGO is the 4th venture from Form Us With Love and shows the studio’s direction towards sustainable initiatives.

“We have defined our mission as Design Real Change, our guide to influence everything we do here at Form Us With Love. This ambition is very time consuming. It means we have to dig deep to influence entire industries, and make better products in terms of innovation, sustainability, quality production to make things long-lasting solutions,” says Jonas Pettersson, CEO at Form Us With Love.

Together with a lab specialized in natural cosmetics, the team at Form Us With Love iterated on the idea that is now a sustainable alternative to liquid soap. One sachet contains approx. twelve grams of powder. Just those twelve grams makes a full bottle of foaming hand wash with 250ml of hot tap water.

FORGO’s ambition is to be the sustainable subscription base for all your daily personal care starting with hand wash. The outer packaging is recycled paper and cardboard. A noticeable difference from nearly all ecommerce packaged products today. When you order refills they come in a paper envelope directly to your door in sets of three.

“We see so many products designed to be wasteful and inefficient. Liquid personal care products are mostly water, an ingredient you probably have at home. So why ship it around in plastic bags and bottles when it’s possible to do better?” says John Lofgren, Creative Director at Form Us With Love.

Just what is it that makes hand wash by FORGO so sustainable?

Form Us With Love brings their design discipline to every aspect of FORGO down to the touch and smell. They work closely with a perfumer to source fragrances from unlikely sources. The Woody fragrance is distilled from timber yard scraps in Canada. The Citrus fragrance is distilled from the leftover peels and pulp from organic juicing plants in the Caribbean.

“For us hand wash is just the beginning. We’re here to make all personal care more sustainable with less,” concluded Allon Libermann, Design Manager at Form Us With Love, and co-founder of FORGO.

BAUX

Form Us With Love co-founded BAUX, seizing on an opportunity to reinvent the aesthetics of a function-heavy Swedish-made building material Träulit. While investigating the production of Träulit, a wood wool, as a proprietary material, the studio found its potential for usage compelling—even after decades on the market. First invented in the 1940s, Träulit is a […]
